Upcoming Regional Events in 2024
Week of Compassion Special Offering
As the relief, refugee, and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Week of Compassion works with partners to alleviate suffering throughout the world. Each year in February, congregations across the United States and Canada collect a Special Offering for Week of Compassion, fueling Week of Compassion's work and witness throughout the whole year. Easter Special Offering
The Easter Offering supports General Ministries of the Church. General ministries serve across the United States and Canada, and around the world. General Ministries also partner in ministry with a variety of far-reaching and unique organizations. Learn more here.
Pentecost Special Offering
The Pentecost Offering supports Disciples Church development. Planning, nurturing and sustaining new congregation is part of the Disciples’ vision. This offering supports the specialized ministry of new church development through both regional and general programs. Gifts for this offering are divided equally between the region in which they’re given and the New Church Ministry. Learn more here.
Chi Rho Camp
For youth who have completed grades 6, 7, or 8 by the end of the 2024/2025 academic year.
Chrysalis Camp
For youth who have complete grades 1 or 2 by the end of the 2024/2025 academic year.
Junior Camp
For youth who have completed grades 6, 7, or 8 by the end of the 2024/2025 academic year.
Genesis Camp
For youth who have complete Kindergarten by the end of the 2024/2025 academic year, with a parent, grandparent, or other adult.
CYF Conference
For youth who have complete grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 by the end of the 2024/2025 academic year.
General Assembly of the Christian Church (DOC)
Join with Disciples from across the US and Canada, as well as global and ministry and mission partners, for the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Memphis, TN. More information to come.
Oasis Day Camp
A day camp on July 15, 16, and 17 for Wilkinson County 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders and giving Georgia Disciples youth the opportunity to serve as Counselors in Training (CITs). CIT youth must have completed grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 by the end of 2024/2025 academic year.
Reconciliation Ministry Special Offering
The Reconciliation Ministry Special Offering is received on the last Sunday in September and the first Sunday in October (World Communion Sunday) in support of ministries and congregations actively developing and implementing Pro-Reconciliation and Anti-Racist programs. These efforts take place through education, camp and conference, and relationship-building in many expressions of our Church. Learn more here.
Thanksgiving Special Offering
The Thanksgiving Offering supports Disciples colleges, universities, and theological institutions. Disciples have a long history of post-secondary and theological education. This offering helps support 15 colleges and universities, plus 7 seminaries and theological programs. Gifts from this offering continue the Disciples tradition of developing church and community leaders. Learn more here.
Christmas Special Offering
The Christmas Offering supports regional ministries in 31 regions across the United States and Canada. The Christmas Offering is a critical part of the Christian Church in Georgia because 100 percent of giving from Georgia congregations remains in the Georgia region, supporting regional camps, conferences, retreats, and programs, and playing a critical role in calling and ordaining new ministers. The Christian Church (DOC) in Georgia meets for its 171st Regional Assembly.
Regional Youth Assembly
Disciples youth and their friends in grades 6-12 are invited to the annual Regional Youth Assembly at Epworth By the Sea, St. Simons, GA.
Christmas Offering
The Christmas Offering supports regional ministries. In 31 regions across the United States and Canada, ministers are nurtured and congregations are provided opportunities for work and worship. Often recognized for the ministries of camps and conferences, regions also play a critical role in the preparation and authorization of ministerial ordination. Both are key to church leadership and development. Regions partner with congregations to support the work required to call a new minister.

Regional Elders Retreat: Rediscovering the Value, Purpose, and Rewards of the Local Church in a Post-Pandemic World
The Georgia Regional Elders are coming together to education, encourage, and inspire local church elders and deacons in a one-day workshop at Camp Christian. The needs, concerns, commitments, and contributions of congregations and our communities shifted during the pandemic. This work will help elders and deacons to reset. Learn more and register here.

Gardens are thriving at Georgia Disciples churches and congregations have a wide range of experiences about “How does your garden grow?” In this Upgrade Thursdays session, you will hear stories from lead gardeners from Cherry Log CC, New Hope CC, Chestnut Ridge CC, Amplify CC, and Ray of Hope CC. DMF Day is on August 24! Giving to DMF (Disciples Mission Fund) supports our own Georgia Region (think Camp Christian, search and call, clergy and lay leader workshops, and much more), plus the efforts of 30 other Regions, Disciples colleges and seminaries, global mission partners, and ministries far beyond our own communities. YADA (Young Adults Disciples Association)
A 2-night event for the young adults of the region. Ages 18 to 30. The weekend will be focused on fellowship and renewing the faith that the young adults found at camp. Learn more and register here.

Pop-Up Gathering: Understand the Racial Wealth Gap
You’re invited to gather for the first of this year’s Pop-Up Gatherings with Georgia Disciples on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 1-3:30 pm to participate in a hands-on learning experience that explores the Racial Wealth Gap. We’ll meet at Ray of Hope Christian Church, 2778 Snapfinger Rd., Decatur, GA 30034, beginning with lunch at 1 pm. Then from 1:30-3:30 pm, Frances French Hagan, Regional Organizer for Bread for the World will present “Advancing Our Understanding About Hunger, Racism, and the Wealth Divide,” using the Racial Wealth Gap Learning Simulation tool. Blue Christmas Service
In partnership with Ray of Hope Christian Church, the Georgia Mental Health Initiative (GAMHI) is hosting a special virtual Blue Christmas Service: A Time of Remembrance and Celebration to remember those who we have lost and those dealing with grief. The holidays can be a difficult time for those who suffer loss or hurt. A “Blue Christmas” service recognizes that reality and offers hope, peace, and comfort.
Regional Assembly 2022
The Christian Church in Georgia is happy to announce a return to an in-person Regional Assembly on November 11-12, 2022. Hosted by First Christian Church, Athens, the 170th Georgia Regional Assembly theme is “Re-Church: Re-cast Your Net” from John 21.
