In Remembrance of Rev. Carol Lavery
We celebrate the life of Rev. Carol Lavery, who passed away September 3 at age 94. Carol served from 1981 to 1996 as Associate Regional Minister for the Christian Church (DOC) in Georgia. Her long legacy of service also included serving in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps during WWII and as a teacher for more than two decades. She began serving the Christian Church in Georgia in 1970, directing camp and leading Christian Education workshops. She was called into ministry at the age of 50 and subsequently graduated from seminary and was ordained at First Christian Church in Macon. Rev. Lavery was an avid and active supporter of Camp Christian Conference Center, where Lavery Hall is named in her honor. Instead of flowers, Carol's family requests that donations be made to Camp Christian Conference Center, 2306 Vineville Ave., Macon, GA. Online gifts can be made to the Camp here; please indicate that your gift is for Camp Christian in memory of Carol Lavery. The obituary may be viewed here.
