YAC Membership
The Youth Activities Council (YAC) is composed of adults and youth commissioned to guide, nurture, and plan Regional youth ministries, including the annual Regional Youth Assembly held in February of each year. High school youth are selected to represent their congregations and Region on the council. These youth work with adult volunteers and Regional Youth Directors to foster and support ministries that develop the full potential of youth as disciples of Jesus as they participate in the congregational, district, regional, and general expressions of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ.) Guidelines for YAC membership include the following:
People of faith and integrity, with gifts and potential for leadership.
Active members of their congregations and regular participants in worship and youth activities.
In 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade at the time of selection.
Regular participants in Regional Youth Assemblies and summer camp at Camp Christian.
Able to participate in at least four planning meetings and retreats during the upcoming year, as well as the Regional Youth Assembly.
Potential YAC members should submit the application form which includes portions to be completed by parents/guardians. A hard copy of the form is included in the Application Packet (see below to download) or online application is available here. Deadline for submission is February 1, 2024. A recommendation form also must be completed and submitted by your minister. Download the form here. Submit both forms to yac@gadisciples.org. If email is unavailable, hard copies can be mailed to: Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Georgia, 2306 Vineville Avenue, Ste. B, Macon, Georgia 31204-3163. Deadline for submission is February 1, 2024.
YAC members serve on the council for one year. YAC members may apply to serve multiple years in a row, if approved by the student’s congregation, or a new representative may be elected each year.
