Mission Statement
The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Georgia believes that camp and conference provide an opportunity for children, youth, and adults to step away from their day-to-day routines and focus more intensely on their relationship with God, to experience Christian community, and to practice living out their spiritual values in a supportive atmosphere.
The Place to Be
Welcome to Camp Christian Conference Center! Whether you come to Camp Christian for summer camp, or for a retreat, conference, or recreational getaway, we hope you experience the natural beauty of this 350-acre wooded setting, featuring a lake, swimming pool, trails, and outdoor worship spaces. In addition, there are numerous recreation possibilities such as volleyball, soccer, basketball, football, kickball, softball, non-competitive games, badminton, croquet, ping pong, swimming, fishing, hiking, crafts, and table games.
Retreat and conference facilities include a variety of options for groups ranging in size from 20 to 100. Gather in climate-controlled meeting and sleeping rooms, or choose camping cabins and screened villas for a more rustic experience. Prepare your own meals for a smaller group in a family-style kitchen, or enjoy meals in the dining hall from a full-service kitchen. Camp Christian Conference Center also offers flexibility in scheduling and pricing to customize your camp, retreat, or conference experience. There is something for everyone at Camp Christian.
History
Camp Christian began with the gift of land by the Charles and Lucie McAfee family in 1960, with 1963 marking the beginning of camps, activities, and programming. Initially called by a number of names including “The State Camp” and “Camp Gordon,” Camp Christian developed a successful ministry as a summer camping facility for Georgia Disciples youth. In the early 2000s, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Georgia had a vision of an expanded ministry for our camp. In 2002 we began to realize that vision, as construction was completed on year-round conference and retreat facilities. In 2023, Camp Christian Conference Center will be “Celebrating 60 Years of Camp.” Your support of Camp Christian Conference Center through time, talent, and treasure has been and continues to be the foundation of the camp’s ministry.
