A Story of God’s Grace
“Then the trees of the forest will sing, they will sing for joy before the LORD.” This beautiful image in 1 Chronicles 16:33 (and Psalm 96:12) offers the biblical background for a new Georgia Disciples church, Story Forest Christian Church. Nesting in First Christian Church, Lawrenceville, GA, this new Korean-language church has been together since early 2021 and is led by Pastor Peter (Seokil) Yoon. Pastor Yoon explains that he started the church with his family because he was convicted that God wanted to use him for the expansion of God’ Kingdom. Through church ministry, “I want God’s story to spread and the story of the living God to grow as thick as a forest in this world,” he explained.

While starting a church any time is difficult, planting a church in the middle of a pandemic has special challenges and has required flexibility. He and his family make up the core of the church members, yet have a wider reach with both in-person worship Sundays at 12:30 pm in FCC Lawrenceville’s sanctuary and livestreaming on Facebook. In addition, Story Forest meets Wednesdays at 7 pm for prayer.

As they continue to worship and pray together, they are guided by the following:

·      We confess and believe that Jesus is Christ, the living son of God, and our Savior and Lord.

·      Our goal of life is to resemble the character of Jesus Christ and expand the Kingdom of God

·      We live so that the Kingdom of God can be realized in our homes, workplaces, schools, businesses, and campuses.

·      We are committed to national and worldwide evangelization, and live with the vision of Jesus.
