Adult Sponsors

At the beginning of the Youth Assembly, one adult from each group will be asked to check-in for their entire group. Most of the information and necessary materials will be given to you at this me in bags for your church to ease the check in process.

There must be at least one adult for every 5 youth of each gender (example: If a church has 6 youth attending: 2 male & 4 female, there needs to be one male adult and one female adult accompanying those youth). If this is not possible, the adult(s) must make arrangements with other adults attending the Assembly. If such arrangements are made, please note this on the registration forms for housing purposes. If you have any further questions please email the YAC Adult sponsors. Thank you for your help and cooperation!

All youth groups will be assigned to cabins and will share accommodations with other youth groups as necessary.

Adult sponsors will be housed in the cabins with their youth and will be responsible for their youths' safety for the duration of the event.

Members of the Youth Acvies Council (YAC) will stay in cabins with their own youth groups.

Keynote Speaker

Keynote Speaker

Rev. Dr. Russ Peterman

Russ is the Senior Minister at University Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fort Worth, Texas. UCC is a large, dynamic, growing, thriving congregation that is committed to transforming the world by living out Christ’s courageous love.

The fancy stuff that people ask for when Russ is speaking at an event: He is originally from Concord, California and cut his teeth at the First Christian Church there. Russ has received a BA in Religious Studies from TCU; an MDiv from San Francisco Theological Seminary; and a DMin from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA and has served churches in Texas, California, and Georgia. Russ was at Sandy Springs Christian Church for 8 years so he’s been to Epworth many times… and was the keynoter at this event in 2004! And he’s so excited to be back!

Russ is married to his best friend of nearly 40 years, Kelli, and together they have four children -- whom he loves even more than Ben & Jerry’s Ice cream! To stay centered he likes to spend time with his kids, play golf and pickle ball, and cheer on the TCU Horned Frogs! He’s ran eight marathons and even completed an Ironman.

Russ keeps a picture of himself taken when he was in the 9th grade on his desk as a reminder of what it’s like to be an adolescent in the world today, lest he forget… and to prove to people that at one point he really did have hair!  He loves speaking with people about the heart-waking, soul-changing God who is capable of turning their lives inside out and the world upside down!
