A Letter from Rev. Dr. Denise Bell

Dear Georgia Family,
I greet you in this Pentecost season where we celebrate all things new. Our actions that cultivate God’s new thing should always lead to obedience. Over the last nine years I have worked to live to be an obedient and faithful servant as the Regional Minister of the Christian Church in Georgia.
A few weeks ago, I received a call from Lexington Seminary inviting me to participate in their search for the David and Lillian Nunnelly Chair in Pastoral Leadership. I entered their process. It was quite a surprise and not something that I initiated, and I felt compelled to discern the Lord’s leading.
Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky has extended a called for me to serve as the David and Lillian Nunnelly Chair in Pastoral Leadership. After prayerful consideration, I have resigned from my position as Regional Minister of the Christian Church in Georgia, effective 7/31/2023 with 07/01-31/2023 as vacation month.
The Christian Church in Georgia has a process in place that requires the Executive Committee to recommend an interim to the regional board until a successor is found. The next few weeks I will be ensuring that records and files are up to date, staff is well informed, and that the Executive Committee and Regional Board are posed to lead current regional projects, staff, and regional events.
For nine years I have enjoyed the invigorating work of praying, preaching, coaching, consulting, teaching, and leading. Serving with each of you in your congregational settings has stretched me and given me an appreciation for the many expressions of our faith experience. My call has been satisfied in the role of regional minister. Thank you again for your prayers and support during our shared ministry.
Blessings and take good care.
In Christ’s service and care,
Rev. Dr. Denise Bell
