Speakers

Rev. Lanie JenkinsThe speaker for the March 9th Spring Conference is Rev. Lainie Jenkins.  Lainie served as Executive Director for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Ogeechee for nearly eight years before her retirement just over a year ago, and now works part-time recruiting volunteer advocates for TLC CASA and assisting other CASA programs with short-term needs. She is a Registered Mediator in Georgia.  She and her husband now have much more time to enjoy their four children and their families, most especially their four wonderful grandchildren!  Rev. Jenkins and her husband Archie became commissioned ministers in 2011; and Lainie was ordained in 2017.

Originally from Joliet, Il, Lainie attended Illinois State University and the University of St. Francis, graduating with a B.A. in English. She earned a Masters in Conflict Management from Trinity Seminary and College of the Bible in 2016.  Raised Greek Orthodox, and making a short layover in the Presbyterian Church, a move to Guyton in 2000 provided Lainie’s introduction to the Christian Church (DOC), through Guyton Christian Church (GCC), where she quickly immersed herself in local and regional board activities, as well as in her community, joining Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Effingham, and  the Red Cross.

Rev. Cheryl CloarThe speaker for the March 23rd Spring Conference is the Rev. Cheryl Cloar.  Rev. Cloar was called as the minister of First Christian Church, Winder, in June of 2016.  Having been born in Atlanta and raised in DeKalb county, she is thrilled to be back home in Georgia. Cheryl was ordained on July 13, 2008 at Central Christian Church, Indianapolis, IN.  Prior to FCC Winder, she served congregations in Indiana and as Associate Regional Minister of the Christian Church in Indiana.  Cheryl most recently served as a member of the International Disciples Women’s Ministries (IDWM) Executive Committee and on the Editorial Board of Just Women Magazine. Cheryl lives in Winder with her husband, Alan, their 2 children – Lee (a Georgia Bulldog) and Timothy (a Winder Barrow Bulldogg), their dog Georgia, and cat Luna.
