Gethsemane Mission Year
Recruits Young Adults for a Year of Discipleship in Washington, DC

Young adults seeking to serve God by ministering with those in need are encouraged to apply for a unique urban-centered ministry set in Washington, DC. April 15, 2004 is the application deadline for the 2004-2005 Gethsemane Mission Year, the young adult discipleship opportunity at National City Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Applicants must be between the ages of 21 to 29, single, self-motivated, mature, stable and have a desire to grow in the values of community, service, simplicity, and spirituality.

Gethsemane pays living expenses so the Disciples can devote themselves wholeheartedly to building community, service, and spiritual growth. Benefits include free housing, health insurance, a personal stipend, food allowance, eligibility for student loan deferment, and an AmeriCorps Education Award of $4,725.

Review of applications will begin March 1.  Candidates accepted early will have the greatest selection of work possibilities.  The second Gethsemane Mission Year will begin September 1.  Application and reference forms can be downloaded from www.NationalCityCC.org/Gethsemane or contact Rev. Anna Bradley, Director, 202.232.0323 or ABradley@NationalCityCC.org.

This ministry is inspired by Jesus' prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane where he ultimately declares to God, "Not my will but your will be done."
