At a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, October 29, 2017, Sandy Springs Christian Church extended an invitation (a call) to Rev. Nathan C. Brown to serve as their next senior pastor.

Nathan has enthusiastically accepted and his first communication to everyone at SSCC follows in the letter below.

Nathan is currently the pastor of First Christian Church in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Here is Nathan's greeting:

Dear Sandy Springs Christian Church,

Rev. Nathan BrownIt is with equal amounts of humility and excitement that I write you today.  First and foremost, I am incredibly humbled to be called as the next Senior Minister of Sandy Springs Christian Church.  Your reputation precedes you.  SSCC is known among Disciples as having a strong and vital ministry in your community and beyond.  In learning more about your ministry over these last few months, this has certainly been evident.  From spirit-filled worship, to thoughtful theological education, to your community partnerships, all supported by excellent staff and lay leadership, it is obvious you are furthering God's kingdom on earth in some remarkable ways.

We are grateful to become part of the ministry you are doing.  It is an honor and privilege to come alongside you and share in this ministry.  Marion and I, from the outset, want to thank you for this incredible opportunity.

Secondly, we are excited about our move to the Sandy Springs area and the opportunity to get to know each and every one of you.  If your search committee is representative of the rest of the congregation, we know we will be blessed.  The committee has been nothing but kind, hospitable, gracious and generous.  We know this reflects the spirit of your congregation and cannot wait to be with you, to share in this same spirit.

Additionally, we are looking forward to moving to a community in which we already have roots.  Growing up, I spent many holidays in Cobb County.  In fact, my grandparents are buried in Marietta.  We have aunts, uncles, and cousins living in both Dunwoody and Sandy Springs.  We feel fortunate to have the opportunity of serving a community about which we already care deeply.

Thank you, in advance, for your patience as our family transitions from one ministry to the next.  In addition to moving and getting settled, I will be finishing and submitting my first draft of the final project for my Doctorate of Ministry.  We are planning a start date on January 15th with my first Sunday being January 21st.  Those dates cannot come soon enough.

On behalf of my family, Harrison, Clara, Marion and myself, thank you for welcoming us into your church community.  And thank you for entrusting to me the incredible responsibility and privilege of serving as your next Senior Minister.
