Keynote Speaker: Gilberto Collazo
A
favorite Bible passage that courageously inspires Gilberto Collazo to
serve with passion in the ministry is from Joshua 1:7:
Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the
law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to
the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
As assistant vice president of New Church Ministry and
director of Anti-Racism Initiatives, Gilberto Collazo serves dual roles
for Church Extension, a general ministry of the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ).
In the role of assistant vice president for New Church
Ministry, Collazo manages New Church Ministry fieldwork with all New
Church Ministry ministers. Collazo facilitates the bridging of field
services between New Church Ministry and Established Congregational
Services. He also assists with planning and implementation of services
to Hispanic congregations.
As director of Anti-Racism Initiatives, Collazo is
responsible for leading Church Extension’s Anti-Racism team in creating,
overseeing and implementing all anti-racism policies and procedures as
they pertain to the mission, vision and core values for Church
Extension.
According to James L. Powell, president of Church
Extension, “I have great confidence that Gilberto is providing the
leadership needed to continue Church Extension’s efforts, including
being an anti-racism, pro-reconciliation ministry that takes very
seriously the anti-racism initiatives.”
Collazo is an ordained minister from San Juan, Puerto
Rico. He has a bachelor of arts and a master of business administration
from University of Florida and a master of divinity from the Evangelical
Seminary in Puerto Rico. Collazo is currently enrolled in the Doctorate
of Ministry program at Lexington Theological Seminary. He resides in
Indianapolis with his wife, Ruth, and their four children.
