On Saturday, May 18th 2019, at 1:00 pm we will have our inaugural meeting of the Georgia Regional Leadership Institute. The G.R.L.I. is a series of educational opportunities for the clergy and lay leadership of the Christian Church in Georgia. Responding to the suggestions of pastors for more fellowship and continued opportunities to learn and grow, the G.R.L.I. will offer a host of workshops/courses taught by distinguished experts in their field to leave clergy with practical tools which can easily translate into growing yourself and your ministry.

Rev. Dr. Teresa Fry-BrownOur inaugural event is scheduled for May 18th, 2019, 1 pm, at Peachtree Christian Church. Our guest lecturer will be the Rev. Dr. Teresa L. Fry-Brown, the holder of the Bandy Chair in Homiletics at Candler School of Theology at Emory University. The Bandy Chair in Homiletics is the most distinguished homiletics chair in the country, with former chairs including Tom Long, and the great Disciples preacher Fred Craddock. Rev. Dr. Fry-Brown is widely recognized as one of the greatest preachers in the world, not only in delivery, but in method as well.

On May 18th, Dr. Fry-Brown will offer a lecture in prophetic preaching intended to offer us practical tips on how to deliver relevant sermons that address today’s circumstances while maintaining faith and hope in Christ. While we know our congregants are looking for this weekly, it is also important to note that many of the unchurched are looking for sermons that help them better understand the world around them. Dr. Fry-Brown will offer suggestions to ensure that our preaching is pertinent, intergenerational, and rooted in the Gospel.

I hope you will consider coming out for our inaugural kickoff. Other events focused on worship/liturgy, congregational development, and more will soon follow! Please make plans to support the G.R.L.I. as it seeks to support the clergy in the great state of Georgia!
