The weather was a bit cloudy and cool, but the spirits
were sunny and warm as 302 people gathered at United Christian Church in Dublin
for Miracle day. There were 35 Congregations and 1 Temple represented including
a large contingent from Iglesia El Aposento Alto, the site of last year's Miracle
Day.
Some,
especially those from far away, came down the night before to say in motels so they
could start bright and early. Some, like Bob Alveraz and his crew, came down
early to purchase supplies and plan the work. In fact, Bob is now famous at
the Macon Home Depot for setting a records: the most stuff piled on a pickup truck.
The
morning began early, with registration and breakfast at First Christian Church of
Dublin. Then everybody gathered at United Christian to check in their tools,
and then hold a short worship before getting down to work. Chairpersons Suzanne
Wages and Debbie Acre introduced our excellent safety staff, United pastor Alphonso
Whiting welcomed everyone and then Bob Alveraz took over to get the crews organized.
Everybody worked hard and yet the worst injury treated by our first-aid staff was
a splinter.

- Renovating the restrooms, which included
some major plumbing work.
- Painting pews, the pulpit and other
furniture
- Paneling several rooms
- Installing shelves in the storeroom
- Install a front walk
- Install new doors, exterior and interior
- Plant flowers and bushes in the yard,
trim limbs
- And lots of general cleanup

The
day closed with another short worship service were individuals shared miracles they
witnessed during the day, pastor Whiting thanked everyone for their love and Regional
Minister Tom Neal prayed for United Christian..
Thanks not only to all who participated, but also
to those who provided contributions and prayers. Your support was also key
to the success of this Miracle day.
Miracle Day is sponsored by the National Benevolent
Association, a division of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and is a
day of region-wide participation in a joint work project to refurbish, repair and
renovate the building and grounds of one of our region’s Disciple Congregations.
