Biographical Sketch
Pavel Nicolaiovich Makarenko

Pavel N. Makarenko is a 28 year old missionary pastor who provides a
ministry in the Smolensk region of Russia. His specific work is that of
a church planter. Over the past five years he has started three churches
in villages near the city of Smolensk and continues to provide spiritual
oversight to the churches.
Pavel is married to his wife Tanya, they
have two children, a son, Vladic age 7 and a daughter Angelina age 4.
Although he was born in the Ukraine, they
all now live in western Russia and both Pavel and his wife minister to
orphan and unwanted children who are placed in institutions in the
Smolensk region. There are 34 such institutions.
When the Mission for Biblical Literacy (MBL)
first visited the Smolensk region, Pavel provided instant access to the
many orphans and for the past three years, MBL has provided a summer VBS
type program to the children living in the orphanages. MBL provides
limited support to Pavel's work.
Pavel does not speak English but has no
trouble communicating his thoughts through a few words that he has
acquired working with Americans who have visited that area. |
