A Season of Prayer Worship Service

The General Moderator, Alvin Jackson, has called for the days during Lent be set aside as a Season of Prayer. In accordance with this call, the Region of Georgia held a prayer service on March 18th at First Christian Church in Decatur.

Forty Ministers, families and support staff joined together for a noon time Worship Service. Rev. James Brewer-Calvert, minister at First Christian Church of Decatur, extended a warm welcome to all in attendance. The worship service was a combination of music, prayer and a proclamation – focusing on the impending war and transition of leadership in the Region and the General Church. Latonya Moore, soprano soloist and Director of Music at St. Philips AME Church, provided the special music “Lord, Make Me an Instrument of thy Peace”. The timely message from Psalm 46, was brought by Dr. Cynthia Hale, Minister at Ray of Hope Christian Church in Decatur.

Similar services are planned during the next Advent season, both in the Atlanta area and in South Georgia.
