Friends and fellow workers in Christ,
Greetings to you in this New Year and prayers for you
and your ministry. May 2008 bring health and happiness personally and
bring success and growth in your professional endeavors. Together we
will make the Christian Church in Georgia stronger and more vital,
faithful, and closer to God’s vision for the church.
The Policies and Criteria for the Order of Ministry of
the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) lodges responsibility for
certification of standing of ministers and for periodic review of that
standing with the Region where the minister is serving. It also charges
the Region with the responsibility to periodically review the standing
of all ministers under its care. (Policies and Criteria section 5A2 and
5B4)
In most regions that process involves a form similar
to the one attached. All ministers are asked to fill out the form and
return it to the Regional Office. The forms are then reviewed by the
Ministry Commission as a way to carry out the care and oversight role.
With that in mind I am asking if you will take a few
moments to fill out the
attached form
and return it to the Regional Office. Not only will it fulfill the need
for review, it will also help us keep our listing of clergy accurate and
up to date. If you no longer wish or no longer qualify for standing in
the Christian Church ( Disciples of Christ), that will be communicated
to the Ministry Commission for their action. Be assured that standing
will not be unilaterally removed without conversation between you and
the Ministry Commission.
